WMC BLOCK WATCH
The Wynthorpe Community has decided to participate in the NCC Police Department’s Neighborhood Block Watch. This community policing activity can be done in the comfort of your own home but does take registration and some training by NCC Police Department Community Service Unit.
We have a good number of households signed up. The first informational meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at the Ommelanden Range Conference Room, 1205 River Road (Rt. 9), across from the Kirkwood Soccer Fields. If you signed up to participate, please plan to attend.
FRIENDLY REMINDERS
Assessments:
Please remember New Castle County has imposed a new billing schedule for 2009 for all maintenance corporations.
All bills will be mailed in the beginning of March and be for the period of March 1 through February 28 (29 in a leap year).
The Bylaws (Section 19 ASSESSMENTS) will be revised to reflect this new billing schedule.

NCC Code Enforcement:
New Castle County began its new instant ticketing program July 1, 2008. Under this new program, after a complaint is received by the Office of Code Enforcement, a courtesy letter is sent to the property owner in violation. The property owner will have 10 days to resolve all violations before an officer performs an official inspection. If any violations are observed during that first inspection, a $50.00 fine will be assessed to the property owner for each violation. The “ticket” must then be paid to avoid the doubling to $100 per violation.

COMMUNITY MEETING
The third and fourth quarter Wynthorpe Community meetings have been rescheduled and will now be held at a new location.
The new location is the Ommelanden Range Conference Room,
1205 River Road (Rt.9), across from the Kirkwood Soccer Fields.
The third quarterly meeting is now scheduled for Wednesday, September 17, 2008, 7:30 PM.
We hope the new location will attract more home owners.

Playground:
The playground has been resurfaced and cleaned up at great expense to the community. Please assist us in keeping it clean and beautiful by removing your trash from the area.

The Value of a Homeowner Association:
Ever wonder why you have a homeowners association? Your association may be your best tool to protect the value of your home and the quality of your neighborhood. If deed restriction violations are not corrected, there can be very negative results over time. Estimates are that property values in a subdivision with an inactive association can fall as much as 20%.
